The Antonini 5540/N is a classic Italian-made grafting knife, trusted by horticulturists, gardeners, and orchardists for its precision and reliability. Featuring a straight, mirror-polished 65mm carbon steel blade, this knife excels at clean, accurate cuts essential for successful grafting and pruning work.
The slip joint mechanism ensures smooth blade opening and closing, while the black acetate plastic handle offers a comfortable, secure grip that’s easy to clean. Steel liners add strength and durability, making this a dependable tool season after season.
Carbon Steel Blade Care:
This knife is made from high-quality carbon steel, which holds an edge exceptionally well but requires extra care to prevent rust and oxidation. Avoid dishwashers and prolonged soaking. After use, wipe clean with a damp cloth, dry thoroughly, and consider applying a light coat of vegetable oil to protect the blade. If rust appears, remove it with steel wool before re-oiling. Over time, the blade will develop a dark patina—a sign of age and character.
